I started writing about a shared Art/Dance - Robotics/HCI project as a short exploratory activity, but the project has matured from a fun short project into a more serious project.

The idea for a non-tech-centric approach to connect people using sound was born at a SWCTN event where I met movement artist Silvia Carderelli-Gronau. After a two-day brainstorming session, we came up with the idea of using a sound-based approach and built two early devices through small funding from Kaleider.

The Sonic Dancer is a Raspberry Pi powered network of devices that uses a six-microphone array to locate moving sound sources and visualise the source on a paired device or local web server.
